Our Mission & History

We want to process information from raw data in a comprehensible manner and to generate interesting texts that are of use to the reader. We want to use the strengths of the software to give people the space to develop their own, creative originality.

AX Semantics GmbH is a german software company located in Stuttgart. Since 2001 we have offered our know-how and services in online content and consulting. In 2009 we kick-started our game changing software, AX Semantics, and found with it a way to make content more accessible to our customers.

We are nerf-gun shooting computational linguists and good old-fashioned copy-writers – enjoying the thrill of changing the way content is created, published and viewed today. Our aim is to raise the bar and make content scalable.

2001 - AEXEA is formed

Saim Rolf Alkan founded aexea, focussing on the publishing challenges provided by the then relatively new channel “ Internet”. Aexea purchases a Saeco coffee machine with a daily capacity of 50 cups.

2002 - Writing for the internet

The first edition of his book “Texten für das Internet” (Writing for the Internet), a compendium for the production of good online texts appears. The portfolio of the agency now includes the delivery of high quality content for businesses, the analysis and optimization of websites, consulting concerning the implementation of editorial processes in companies, both for the internet and intranet.

2009 - First steps towards automation

2014 - Hello Berlin

In 2014 AX Semantics is able to handle up to 11 Languages and is now a web based software platform. Saim Alkan gets introduced to a private investor who invests a seven-digit figure into the development of the software.

We open up an office in Berlin with a team of six.

2015 - Landmark in the land of ideas

AX Semantics 2015 gets rewarded as "Landmark in the Land of Ideas" by "Germany Land of Ideas" a initiative of federal government and the Federation of German Industries. First talks with Brand & Label are happening, leading to an office opening in Chile.

2016 - Our self-service portal started

Do-it-yourself text automation, for your own data and texts is now possible. Selected customers can test and use our software themselves.

ATML3 arrives at the universities: Journalism students at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg are the first to take an ATML3 course. As part of the training in digital journalism, other journalism colleges are also supplementing their curricula with ATML3 offerings.

2017 - German innovationspreis

AX Semantics is nominated for the German Innovation Prize 2017 (WiWo) in the middle class category together with a total of 5 SMEs.

AX Semantics GmbH is founded, and the transformation to a SaaS company is complete.

2018 - "NEXT" and 110 Sprachen

Our software gets a major update: with our graphical user interface for data transformation, AI wizards for text analysis and now 110 languages, all kinds of text productions are doable by the users themselves. 

Our Team

We are a rather unusual mix of computational linguists, copy-writers and programmers – integrating each of our specialised skills to change the way content is created, published and viewed today. Our aim is to make content scalable and enable everyone to create and utilise their very own.

Everyone creates their own work-environment and can contribute to our wide range of coffee specialities. There are 23 available at the moment.
